Kavaklidere Côtes d’Avanos Emir 2021

300L

Kavaklidere is already using Emir grape variety for its basic sparkling wine called Altın Köpük as well as for a classic blend of Emir and Narince.

As a single varietal-wine, it only collaborated with Doğuş company to create the Argos nahita brand but there was so far no Emir grapes on its own, especially on its high-end vineyards called Côtes d’Avanos in Cappadocia.

The Côtes d’Avanos vineyards are characterised by a rich volcanic soil made of tuff stones and minerals.

At last in 2020, the very first harvest of Emir grapes started. It was collected by hands and aged in steel tanks.

I’ve tasted the 2021 harvest and here are the results of my tasting :

Greenish light yellow colour, intense flavours of yellow stone fruits, citrus and mineral.

On the palate it’s very acidic but not that crisp.

It’s very fresh with aromas of green plum, apricot, tangerine, lime and white flowers.

Some notes of passion fruits and mango.

A good Emir buy my favourite remain Argos Winery and Kocabağ.

Serving cold 8-10 degrees with Spanish appetizers like mussels in spicy tomato sauce or with scallops. 8,25/10
