
If this grape was used for distillery in the past and was considered as weak and flat, now Suvla and Pasaeli wineries have completely changed this reputation for the better. The name means “black mastic”. It can be found mostly in Thrace and near Marmara sea. Suvla and Pasaeli are making very good reds with this grape. If you like rosé wines, Suvla winery has the best Turkish rosé ever made from Karasakiz grapevine.
The colour is ruby red.
The taste usually is low in acidity and tannins but has a long finish.
Aromas : Red fruits (cherry, strawberry), prune, thyme, walnut, chocolate, spices and sometimes smoky notes.
