Kalecik Karasi

The name of this local grape means “the black from Kalecik”. Kalecik is a small town near Ankara in Central Anatolia. The name of this place also means “small castle”. You will find this grape mostly in Anatolia but also in Thrace. This wine usually has a ruby red colour. It is sometimes compared to Pinot Noir although less tannic.

The grape has a blue black colour with medium sized round berries.

Aromas and flavours : The nose is vibrant and fruity with candy and red berries. On the palate it is fresh and lively with a crisp acidity. Flavours : spices (cacao, black pepper, vanilla), red fruits (cherry, strawberry, raspberry, red currant).
