The name of this local grapevine means “the priest’s black”. You will find it in Thrace (North Western Turkey). This is a very old Thracian grape variety that you can also find in Greece under the name “Kara Papas”. The Kirklareli region in the north of Turkish Thrace is the best terroir for the grapevine.

It is an elegant wine which has a cherry colour. It is fruity and has a high acidity.

Its aromas are : spices (white pepper, vanilla), black fruits (cherry, plum), flowers (violet).
