Adakarasi

Adakarasi is a Turkish black grape indigenous to Avsa Island in the marmara Sea. It was almost extinct when Buyulubag winery brought it up to life and decided to use it to make red and rosé wines. It is now also cultivated in all Marmara region but Buyulubag is the only producer making wine from this local variety. Its name means “The black of the island”.

I’ve only tasted one rosé wine made from Adakarasi so far but here are some characteristics of this grape : elegance, medium bodied, aromas of red berries (red currant, wild strawberry), red fruits (cherry), peach, rose, eucalyptus…
