I love rosé. It’s in my DNA as a Frenchman. I love rosé wines which are mineral or fruity but not bold. I love them pale, not reddish. After more than 30 years of drinking rosé, I can say that the colour counts.
I love the Provence style or Bandol or even Sancerre rosé made from Pinot noir. Among Turkish rosés, my favourite are made from local grapes, especially Karasakız or Çalkarası.
So when the people working at Andifli Ticaret wine boutique in Kaş told me to try a rosé made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, I was really not sure. Rosés made from these grapes are usually bold and often on the sweet side but the light colour made me think I should give it a try. The other reason was that Arcadia winery is one of the best wineries.
Here are the results of my tasting :
Very interesting colour – a kind of pink lollipop with a lilac rim.
A vibrant nose of crushed strawberries, white peach and red grapefruit plus some notes of spices and gravel.
A fresh and exquisite silky texture.
Flavours of forest red berries, nectarine, citrus, papaya and cinnamon.
Super juicy and fresh finish, long and slightly savoury.
Well done Arcadia winery!
I’m so impressed.
Sensational summer drinking! 9,5/10
