This is the first Turkish version of a famous red Greek grape called “Agiorgitiko” (right prononciation is “Ayoryitiko”), a versatile grape which can be whatever the winemaker wants it to be.
This first production is not big so run to a Suvla wine shop if you wish to try it!
On the nose, notes of cherry jam, ripe fig, strawberry and mint.
Juicy and warm. Fleshy and mild tannins. Medium bodied.
On the palate, flavours of cherry, rosemary and nutmeg.
Long finish with notes of sweet cherry and cranberry.
Very pleasant, it reminds me of a Pinot Noir.
You’d better serve it a bit chilled around 14 degrees. No more. And let it breath please at least half an hour!
It will pair well with roasted meats, tomato sauces and spiced cuisines.
