Vasilaki, Çavuş, Chardonnay
Points : 8,5/10
Price : Around 18 € at Istanbul airport.
My last Turkish bottle bought in Turkey is a very interesting blend of Vasilaki and Çavuş, two indigenous grapes from Bozcaada and Chardonnay!
What a wine! Beautiful golden colour! So aromatic and rich on the nose! I felt aromas of yellow apple, pineapple, lemon curd and hints of flower honey.
It’s full bodied, round, dense and very elegant. Acidity is high with some minerality.
On the palate, it’s once again very generous in flavours like green plum, mandarine, grapefruit, ginger, almonds and some spices in the long finish.
A very interesting and complex wine!
Oh I miss Turkish wines! And I miss Turkey and Turkish people too!
