I’ve just come back from a wine tasting organised by the wonderful Andrea Lemieux and this time it was about Turkish wines below 50 TL. That made me want to open a bottle of Chamlija Istranca Müteşekkir 2015.
As a matter of fact this bottle could have been at the tasting as it costs only 39 TL at Macro Center.
This is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
The nose is quite oaky with aromas of strawberry, raspberry and black currant. In the mouth the oaky taste is still here but it’s not overwhelming. The taste is fruity with some hints of liquorice. The alcohol is high with 15 degrees but it doesn’t show.
This is a round and medium bodied wine, well balanced and quite pleasant for this price.
