Kocabağ Leo’s 2014 (Öküzgözü, Cabernet Sauvignon, Boğazdere): Kocabağ is a Turkish winery situated in the magnificent region called Cappadocia. Leo’s is their high end production made of a blend of 2 local grapes (Öküzgözü and Boğazdere) and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine needs to open itself otherwise you could have the feeling that it is rather flat. The nose has complex aromas of black cherry, chocolate and dry fruits. A very good start! Tannins are soft and elegant. Still, at first, it lacks density and structure. But after a while some very interesting flavours appear : prune, dry apricot and pine forest in the long finish. A very good surprise this wine! Not so sure it’s worth 110 TL but still, a very nice wine that was perfect with a baked turkey leg! Yummy!
