Akın Gürbüz proves here that a wine critic can make a fantastic winemaker.
Grown in Turkish eastern Thrace, this Shiraz (Syrah) needs some time to reveal itself but after an hour or so, it’s quite stunning!
On the nose, blackberry, chocolate, tobacco and black olive.
On the palate, it has soft tannins and high acidity.
Flavours in the mouth are endless : blueberry, blackberry jam, liquorice, baking spices, vanilla , black pepper, clove, cardamom… Splendid!
A beautiful wine that takes time to open itself but it’s worth it.
It was my first bottle of Gürbüz. I can’t wait to discover more from this young winery.
Wine pairing : Perfect with grilled chicken or a good steak.
