Gülor Signature Petit Verdot 2016

Points : 8,5/10

Price : 140 TL in Dekante

Founded in 1993 by Güler Sabancı, Gülor Winery was the first Turkish Winery to introduce international grapes to the country.

Gülor is located in Thrace in Northwestern Turkey.

Gülor signator is the higher serie of the wines they produce.

This is a 100% Petit Verdot, a grape usually used in Bordeaux blends.

Let’s taste it now :

On the nose, aromas of caramel, blueberry, plum and some herbal notes of thyme and violets.

It has high tannins and a high acidity.

This a full bodied, fruity and quite jammy wine.

On the palate, the oak gives some flavours of clove and dark chocolate.

Flavours of dark fruits are here with plum, blueberry and blackberry.

You can feel some candied violets in the long finish.

It’s more ripen that I would have thought.

A beautiful wine.

It would pair perfectly with rich meat dishes but also with spicy food and hard cheese.
