Vasilaki is native to the island of Bozcaada, in the Aegean Sea. The island used to be part of Greece, hence the name of the grape.
This is indeed the Greeks who brought this grapevine which is now used by 6 local winemakers.
Let’s have a taste of it together now!
On the nose you can feel citrus and floral aromas with some notes of pear and green apple.
It has a crispy acidity with a mineral taste. It’s also fruity and well balanced.
On the palate I detected some tangerine, acacia and clove.
I particularly appreciated the slightly saline aftertaste on the medium long finish.
It’s a very refreshing wine, the kind you need for summer drinking.
Perfect with some salads or uncomplicated Mediterranean dishes.
