The team behind Selefkia vineyards started to make home wine in 1998 in the village of Yenisu.
After experimenting various local varieties, they decided to pick Patkara, Aküzüm and Göküzüm.
The winery was established in 2008.
They have two vineyards located on the southern slopes of Göksü valley in Taurus mountains in the villages of Yenisu and Karacaoğlan near Mersin.
Apart from the 3 varieties mentioned above, they’re working on other ones waiting to be released.
They proudly are the owner of an organic agriculture certificate and are using vegan methods only.
Let’s taste now this red Patkara made by Selefkia vineyards :
On the nose, it’s quite aromatic with hints of cherry, plum, earth and some spices.
It’s not very high in alcohol for a Turkish red at 12,6 degrees.
It’s medium bodied with medium acidity. It’s quite fruity with some soft chewy tannins.
On the palate you get flavours of plum and black currant as well as notes of nutmeg and sandalwood.
It’s a quite pleasant wine, light and fresh, perfect for a hot and dry summer.
The quality price ratio is amazing!
Serve it a bit chilled.
