Chateau Kalpak is a vineyard company trying to create a real sense of terroir with its wine. You can feel that with this bottle of Chateau Kalpak 2013 that we had the opportunity to taste at Alancha, a modern Turkish cuisine restaurant near Nişantaşı. It’s a classic Bordeaux blend made of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The first notes were astringent and aggressive so I ask the waiter to pour it in a carafe. It helped it to deliver the promised flavours of mint, raspberry and cherry. This wine is on a high level. Long final, beautiful aromas… unfortunately the conditions to taste it were not perfect with the loud music and people chatting around… anyway it was perfect with a medium rare steak!
