Turkish wine producers have also experimented what is called in French “Blanc de noirs”. Translated from Molière’s language, it means white wine made with red grapes. Here it’s a local Turkish grape called « Kalecik karası”. Vino Dessera are located in Thrace, the European part of Turkey, where many other vineyards are. This wine really is enjoyable. The colour is kind of white salmon. The nose is fruity and smells like apple and orange. In the mouth you can feel notes of honey, pear and apricot. I have tasted it with a Turkey and Panang curry sauce, vegetables and rice prepared by Vita, my wife. It was delicious but the curry wasn’t the best taste to mix with this wine. Still I really enjoyed it and would recommend it with salmon, tuna or white meat. A roquefort or some Eski Kaşar cheese would be nice too. Around 60 lira in supermarkets.
