Umurbey Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Points : 8,5/10

Price : 100 TL at Milano Gurme

This wonderful Turkish Sauvignon Blanc seems about the same as the 2016 Vintage. It’s quite hard to find a difference without tasting both vintages at once.

Nevertheless I’d say that this year I’ve found even more flavours and it remains one of my favourite Sauvignon Blanc.

On the nose, it’s all citrus (orange, grapefruit, lemon), peach, lychee

mint, fern and acacia. Wow! What an aromatic nose!

It’s fresh with a high acidity. It’s very fruity and mineral at the same time.

The palate is no less aromatic with flavours of orange blossom, quince, cassis, fresh apples, mint, honey and spices (white pepper and ginger).

It reminds me a Menetou Salon from the Loire valley.

Perfect with a sea bream or with some goat cheese.
