Tronia is the brand of a trio of winemakers. They all worked or are still working with other wineries. Some of them studied in France at Agro Sup in Montpellier or in Bordeaux. They worked in different countries abroad.
This winery is situated near Manisa (Salihli) in Denizli region (not too far from the Aegean Sea).
I had previously tasted the 2017 vintage.
Let’s now get acquainted with the latest one, the 2018 vintage :
2300 bottles produced only.
Aged on its lees for 8 months in new french oak barrels.
No clarification nor filtration.
Incredibly aromatic, layered, shows prominent aromas of lemon curd, crème brûlée, then passion fruit and white peach.
Powerful and tense but also intricate and layered, that’s how I would describe this wine.
On the palate, the wine confirms an array of tropical fruits, grape fruit, pear, green melon then lemon, green grass, passion fruit, apple blossom and saline notes in the long finish. Beautiful. I close my eyes and I see … New Zealand?
More refined and subtil than the 2017 as if it was possible.
Definitely one of the best Sauvignons Blancs in Turkey!
