Yedi Bilgeler winery launched its first Sauvignon Blanc 2 years ago. I discovered this wine at the Sommelier’s Selection event in November 2019. It was one of the big hits of the event. Now 7 Bilgeler decided to follow the trend of the Fumé Blanc. Let’s see how it goes!
Those Sauvignon Blanc grapes grow at an altitude of 850 metres on the southern plateau of the Denizli region.
Very cool climate!
The soils are rich in limestone, chalk and clay.
The wine goes through 35 days of fermentation at low temperatures.
It is aged for 6 months in oak barrels.
The nose is very pleasant with aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, pear, mango and orange peel.
Round and fresh, this Fume Blanc is quite acidic, maybe a bit too much.
A lively wine with flavours of passion fruit, mango, dill and almonds plus some characteristic toasted notes.
The finish is long and herbaceous. 8,25/10
A good wine but I prefer the Sauvignon Blanc Khilon, much more extraordinary.
