Umurbey Fume Blanc 2018

250tl

A presentation of Umurbey winery’s Sauvignon Blanc is not needed. When you need a Sauvignon Blanc, Umurbey is one of the names that pops up immediately in your head.
I’ve heard about this new wine only during my vacation this summer and I was intrigued. How will it taste? Will it be very different? Why a Fume Blanc when you’re Sauvignon Blanc is a big star already?
The answer to the question is : yes, it does taste completely differently.
Here you can see a different winemaking.
It’s a very limited edition as only 850 bottles were produced. Hence the steep price above 200 TL.
It’s very pricey but I’m glad I could taste it.
Because… what a nose…it has elegant and silky fine aromas of lemon curd, yellow pears, peach blossom and classy lime zest notes.
The acidity is lively and refreshing.
Let’s not forget the smoky character of this wine!
It was aged 12 months in oak barrels.
The palate is creamy and full of lemon, green apple, white grapefruit and apricot.
The finish is long and fruity with hints of vanilla.
What a blast! Outstanding! 8,75/10
