LIKYA winery is strongly involved into the rebirth of forgotten Turkish grapes. They launched a series of 3 forgotten local vine grapes called ARKEO that deserve a big fame. I’ve already tasted and drunk many times the ACIKARA! I’m totally in love with this one. MERZIFON though is not my kind of taste. Today we’ll discover the third wine of this series : FERSUN!
Just like ACIKARA, the FERSUN grape grows in ELMALI village at an altitude of 1100 metres. You can expect a high acidity and a great freshness due to the amplitude of temperatures between night and day.
This FERSUN has a bright and vivid ruby colour with purple reflections.
On the nose, expect sour red fruit aromas (cherries, strawberries, raspberries) combined with a very characteristic scent of sour summer red apples! There were also some notes of violet, rose hips, black pepper and a hint of vanilla.
It’s a medium bodied wine with soft tannins. It’s very juicy, very clean and well balanced. The acidity is vivid. It’s fresh and energetic! Among the flavours, you will find again red fruits but also pomegranate and red apples. It had also some herbaceous notes.
It reminded me somehow of a Julienas from Beaujolais.
You can savour this unique red wine in summer thanks to its freshness and lightness but in winter as well as it has enough depth and structure. And imagine that : they’ve working on 18 more forgotten Turkish grapes!!! I really liked this wine. Ellerinize sağlık Likya winery!
Let’s meet in 2022 for new discoveries and tastings! Happy new year! Mutlu yıllar!
