From Şarköy vineyards

It’s not my first Gülor wine but the ones I’ve tasted so far were from signature line. Very good wines!
Now I was curious to taste this Sauvignon Blanc from the more regular series.
A few words about Gülor winery :
It’s one of the first Turkish boutique wineries and was founded in 1993 by a businesswoman Güler Sabancı (a famous family in Turkey). Even if they own vineyards in Anatolia, the main facility and the historic vineyards are located near Tekirdağ in Thrace (the European part of Turkey).
Gülor winery produces now more than 200000 bottles a year. It’s not exactly a boutique winery anymore but they still got the spirit.
Now let’s taste this Sauvignon Blanc :
The wine has a pale golden colour with silver highlights.
The grapes were hand harvested, crushed and chilled.
Aromas : Pretty nose of white grapefruit, lemon, white pear, green melon, fennel, fresh grass and some mineral notes.
Palate : It’s medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and a fresh, zesty palate. Not surprising for a wine cold fermented and aged on its lees in a stainless steel tank for 6 months before bottling.
Flavours are pleasant with notes of citrus, white flowers, jalapeño and hints of saline.
The length is medium long with typical mineral notes.
It’s a simple, yet pleasant, Sauvignon Blanc that will pair well with mild spicy Asian food for example. 7,5/10.
Thank you gulorwines and winesofturkey.nl .
You can also find this wine in Germany.
Two great Turkish reds next week..
